The Boston Bruins and general manager Don Sweeney will making a huge announcement today.

On the same day they lost Kevan Miller to retirement, the team has signed defenseman Brandon Carlo to a long term extension.

Carlo obviously a huge part of a thinning B's blueline along with Charlie McAvoy was a key piece the B's needed to keep around it sounds like he'll be around for a very long time.

Terms of the deal have not been revealed.

The contract signing was originally reported by Bruins insider Joe McDonald.

The 24 year old registered 4 points in 27 games this season as he dealt with some injuries and has a total of 55 points and 196 penalty minutes over 324 games during his young NHL career.
