Last night the Boston Bruins came out with a real character win against the Tampa Bay Lightning.
The Bruins also walked away from a brief scare as defenseman Torrey Krug was dumped into the boards by Lightning forward Cedric Paquette.
Krug would get up on his own, stay in the game and eventually score the game winning goal. After the game he credited forward Frank Vatrano for sticking up for a teammate, an action Krug felt pushed the B's to win the game.
After Krug was dumped into the boards, Vatrano skated straight towards Paquette, hitting him and immediately dropped the gloves for a quick throw down.
Krug's goal was big, but Vatrano's actions were huge.
“Obviously it was a big goal, the way the game turned out. But as far as momentum swings in the game, I think Frankie did a great job stepping in there,” Krug said. “Sticking up for his teammates, doing his thing. We were able to get out there and get one for him, and I give him a lot of credit for that.”
While Vatrano might only have two goals, actions like that will definitely help keep him around longer.
