Oh how time flies!

Today marks a big day for Boston Bruins captain Zdeno Chara who celebrates his birthday and hits the 40 years old mark.

This past summer marked the 10 year anniversary of Chara signing his fiver year $37.5million contract with Boston Bruins after the Ottawa Senators let the 6'9" defenseman walk.

It didn't take long for Chara to start making an impact with the Bruins. He was named captain that same year, made the 2007 NHL All-Star game and won the hardest shot competition. Even though he was personally having a great season, fans and media were questioning the signing because the Bruins struggled and Chara finished with a -21 rating on the season.

The following year Chara won the hardest shot competition once again and even finished the season second in Norris Trophy voting.

Of course the 2010-11 season ended with everybody smiling. In season where he once again would take the hardest slapshot competition and score his first career hat trick that same month, the season would climax with the Bruins defeating the Vancouver Canucks to become the Stanley Cup champions. It was the first time the Bruins would hoist the cup since the 1972 season.

Everybody at Let's Go Bruins would like to wish the B's captain a very happy 40th Birthday!!
