After getting his first taste of the National Hockey League during the 2015-16 season, Noel Acciari split last season between Boston and Providence. He had six goals and 14 points in the American Hockey League while posting two goals and five points in 29 NHL games.

Acciari was not known for his offensive output, but rather for his style of play on the fourth line, where he provided plenty of big hits while drawing his fair share of penalties. He dished out 80 hits in 29 games for an average of 2.75 per game. Had he played in all 82 games he would have finished with 226 hits, which would have led the team.

Playing all in all 82 games might be something difficult for Acciari in his career due to his style of play and the way he throws his body around. He was bothered by an upper-body injury which caused him to miss the regular season finale and the first two games of the Stanley Cup playoffs versus the Ottawa Senators.

Acciari’s highlight of the season came when he scored his first career NHL versus the Nashville Predators on March 28.

General manager Don Sweeney liked what he saw out of Acciari this season as he signed the 25-year-old forward to a two-year, one-way contract extension this summer worth $725,000 per season.

What do you think of Noel Acciari’s 2016-17 performance?
