The Bruins kick off their tough week with the most important game versus the Toronto Maple Leafs since Game 7 in the first round of the 2013 Stanley Cup playoffs. The Leafs come into tonight’s game just three points behind the Bruins for third place in the Atlantic Division. Obviously, a first round matchup against the Ottawa Senators is much more appealing than having to face the Metropolitan Division winner.

The Maple leafs have outscored the Bruins 14-6 in their three wins this season, but all of those game before Bruce Cassidy took over as head coach. The Bruins are coming off 7-4 loss at the Edmonton Oilers, but they have yet to lose back-to-back games under Cassidy.

Patrice Bergeron took part in today’s morning skate and is expected to play tonight. However, David Backes will be a game-time decision due to illness. If Backes cannot play, expect to see Jimmy Hayes to slot into his spot on the top line and Noel Acciari to draw in on the fourth line.
